ACDC Field Engineer - Electrical

Role Overview

This position is for an electrical field engineer working on AC and DC site execution at an on-ground project location in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The role focuses on supervising electrical installation, ensuring technical compliance, supporting testing and commissioning, and maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Site Execution and Supervision

• Oversee DC-side activities such as module stringing, DC cable laying, DCDB installation, polarity verification, and string continuity checks.
• Manage AC-side execution including inverter output cabling, ACDB installation, LT panel work, and electrical interconnections up to the transformer.
• Ensure all electrical work follows approved drawings, single-line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, and project technical specifications.

DC System Work

• Supervise the installation of DCDBs, string combiners, isolators, fuses, and surge protection devices.
• Confirm correct cable polarity, routing, dressing, and identification of DC cables.
• Carry out and document DC testing activities such as string voltage checks, insulation resistance testing, and continuity testing.

AC System Work

• Supervise installation of ACDBs, LT panels, circuit breakers such as MCB, MCCB, and ACB, protection relays, and meters.
• Monitor AC cable laying, glanding, termination, ferruling, and torque tightening work.
• Assist with pre-commissioning and functional checks of AC systems.

Inverter and Interface Coordination

• Coordinate with inverter vendors and OEM teams during installation, testing, and commissioning support.
• Ensure the DC-to-AC interface is correctly established between modules, inverters, ACDBs, and transformers.
• Support inverter energization and troubleshooting tasks as required.

Quality, Safety, and Reporting

• Check that materials, panels, and cables meet approved makes, ratings, IEC/IS standards, and project requirements.
• Maintain earthing continuity, proper SPD installation, labeling, and required safety clearances.
• Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are completed before handover.
• Follow electrical safety practices including LOTO, PPE usage, and safe work methods.
• Participate in toolbox talks, site safety inspections, and risk assessments.
• Track daily electrical progress, prepare DPRs, and support weekly and monthly reporting.
• Flag site constraints, material shortages, and execution risks that may affect timelines.

Materials, Documentation, and Handover

• Track receipt, storage, and consumption of DC cables, AC cables, panels, glands, lugs, and related accessories.
• Ensure electrical materials are stored and protected properly to prevent damage or loss.
• Support material reconciliation and quantity tracking.
• Maintain installation checklists, test reports, inspection documents, and punch-list closure records.
• Assist with as-built documentation and commissioning dossiers.
• Support the transfer of AC-DC systems to commissioning and O&M teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• The role expects 5 to 8 years of practical field experience in AC-DC electrical work, ideally on utility-scale solar projects.
• Hands-on understanding of solar plant electrical systems and inverter-based power plants is needed.
