About the Role
HALO Bagels is building a fresh bagel culture in Berlin through artisanal sourdough bagels and a strong focus on food, hospitality, and memorable guest experiences. The team describes these moments as “FULL CIRCLE MOMENTS.” This role is for someone who wants to join a varied, international crew and help grow a brand that aims to become a favorite in Berlin.
What You’ll Do
- Take shared ownership of daily sourdough bagel production from beginning to end, including scaling, hand shaping, proofing, and baking a complete bagel range to a consistent standard.
- Look after dough handling and fermentation by maintaining the sourdough starter and adjusting production variables when needed to keep results on track each day.
- Carry out cleaning and sanitation duties in the back-of-house area independently while following hygiene rules and food safety requirements.
- Manage food stock using FIFO principles, keep an eye on storage conditions, and help with weekly ordering to reduce waste and keep production running smoothly while reporting to the manager.
What We’re Looking For
- 1 to 2 years of practical experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, or similar artisan food setting, with confidence handling dough and a basic understanding of fermentation.
- A sharp eye for detail, especially around dough texture, shaping, and bake consistency, along with a strong personal quality standard.
- Clear communication, a cooperative attitude, and a positive contribution to the kitchen team; this is a small team where team spirit matters.
- Genuine interest in quality food, pride in your craft, and alignment with HALO’s values.
- Availability for both weekday and weekend shifts, plus prior experience in a fast-moving production environment.
- Fluency in English; German is considered an advantage.
