Role overview
This position is for an Electrical Engineer focused on the construction and commissioning of high-voltage substations for a client in the Middle East. The role sits within an established international engineering consultancy active in the power and energy sector across the Gulf, supporting utilities, grid operators, generators, regulators, and electromechanical manufacturers across the entire lifecycle of power infrastructure.
The organization provides services ranging from power system studies and owner’s engineering for HVAC/HVDC assets to third-party inspection, testing, certification, and site supervision for high-voltage installations. The successful hire will join a multinational, multidisciplinary environment and contribute to major substation projects in Saudi Arabia.

Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. The role calls for at least 8 years of experience in the construction and commissioning of high-voltage electrical substations, with a demonstrated history of supervising and validating substation works on multinational, multidisciplinary projects.
What the job involves
The engineer will monitor and confirm that EPC contractor activities for high-voltage substation construction and commissioning are delivered in line with contract terms, technical specifications, approved drawings, and the project timeline. The position includes checking the quality, approach, accuracy, and on-time completion of electrical works carried out at site.
This role also demands hands-on familiarity with substation drawings and project documentation, construction techniques, field supervision, installation and inspection of major equipment such as transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, and GIS/AIS systems, along with QA/QC processes, pre-commissioning, commissioning tests, energization activities, and the related records and reports.
Standards and compliance
The candidate must be comfortable working with internationally recognized and local standards and regulations, including IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, ISO, ISA, ASTM, EN, DIN, HCIS, Saudi Grid Code, NCEC environmental regulations, OSHA, and relevant OEM requirements. Knowledge of the laws, codes, and regulatory framework applicable in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is essential.

Compensation
The salary offered is up to SAR 20,000 per month.
