Role Overview
This is a short-term seasonal position lasting approximately 3 to 4 months and based on site in Squamish, BC. The General Labourer will assist construction teams with a range of manual and support tasks on residential projects. The role involves helping keep sites clean and organized, moving materials and equipment, supporting basic demolition work, and providing general labor assistance to trades as needed.
Day-to-day work includes loading and unloading supplies, transporting tools and equipment, maintaining safe and orderly work areas, and carrying out instructions from site supervisors and forepersons. The position also requires the safe use of basic hand tools and supervised equipment, along with consistent adherence to safety rules and procedures. The goal is to help projects move forward efficiently while meeting quality expectations and supporting DHD’s sustainable construction values.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is CAD 27 to CAD 32 per hour.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of construction site basics, including proper material handling, use of hand tools, and support for general labor tasks.
- Strong focus on safety, with a willingness to follow procedures, wear personal protective equipment, and raise concerns about hazards.
- Dependable work habits, including punctuality, the ability to take direction well, and comfort working outdoors in changing weather.
- Good physical endurance and mobility, including the ability to lift moderate loads, remain on your feet for long periods, and repeat manual tasks.
- Clear teamwork and communication abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, and other site workers.
- Experience in construction or general labor, familiarity with residential building settings, and a valid driver’s license are considered helpful.
- Additional advantages include knowledge of sustainable building methods, hands-on experience with basic power tools under supervision, and safety certifications such as WHMIS or first aid.
