About Halter
Halter is working to help farmers and graziers operate in a more productive and sustainable way. Its customers use the platform to move beyond old-style, time-heavy farming methods, creating major change across the industry. The company values meaningful work, high performance, and solving difficult problems with a team that works hard, cares deeply, and aims to deliver real-world impact.
The business is supported by leading investors and is building technology that transforms how grazing operations are run.
About the Role
This position exists to take ownership of everyday IT support so senior systems engineers can concentrate on automation, infrastructure, and scaling the broader environment. It is a newly created role that serves as the main contact for IT requests and ensures new employees are fully equipped from their first day.
You will represent IT across the company, manage a large share of incoming issues directly, oversee the full device and account lifecycle, and escalate only the more complex technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first contact for IT support through the help channel and ticketing system, then triage, resolve, or route requests while staying accountable until closure.
- Manage devices from purchase through enrolment, configuration, delivery, and tracking, while maintaining accurate asset records.
- Carry out joiner, mover, and leaver processes, including account provisioning and removal, so new hires are ready to work on day one.
- Provide account support such as password resets, MFA resets, access adjustments, group updates, and password-manager recovery in line with policy.
- Support office technology across the Auckland and Morrinsville locations, including meeting rooms, AV equipment, printers, network access, and general workplace IT needs.
- Maintain and improve the knowledge base by writing clear self-service documentation that reduces repeated support requests.
- Identify recurring manual tasks and opportunities for automation so common issues can be prevented rather than repeatedly handled.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support.
- Practical experience in a SaaS-based environment using tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, an identity provider like Okta, and an MDM platform.
- Comfort with device setup, imaging or enrolment, and basic troubleshooting of network-related issues.
- Strong service orientation with a calm, clear, and friendly communication style.
- Good organisation and reliability, with the ability to manage a high-volume queue without missing important follow-up.
- A problem-solving mindset with an interest in automation and fixing the underlying cause rather than repeating the same manual task.
Nice to Have
- Experience using Okta, an ITSM or ticketing platform, and a documentation tool such as Notion.
- Exposure to joiner, mover, leaver automation and structured onboarding workflows.
- Basic scripting skills, or a strong willingness to learn them.
Why This Role
You will join a small Workplace IT team that is building a modern IT function from scratch in a fast-growing environment. The role offers real ownership from day one, exposure to how the company automates and scales, and a development path toward systems engineering.
Application Information
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Sunday, 5 July. Submissions received after that time will not be reviewed.
Applicants are asked to send a cover letter explaining their interest in the role and in working at Halter, along with a CV.
Culture and Inclusion
The company encourages a diverse and inclusive workplace where people can be themselves and do their best work. Candidates who do not meet every listed requirement are still encouraged to apply if they believe they are a strong match.
Team Benefits
- Work on problems that have a real impact on farmers, their families, and more sustainable operations.
- Join a highly capable team tackling difficult challenges and building meaningful solutions.
- Enjoy autonomy, continuous learning, and a $1,000 personal growth fund.
- Be part of a fast-moving organisation where the work is demanding but highly rewarding.
