Role overview

The Imaging Support Worker team plays a vital role within Radiology. In this post, you will help move patients safely from the wards to the Radiology Department at York Hospital, and you will also support patient care in the department and at the Community Diagnostic Centres in Askham Bar and Selby.

What you will do

  • Transport patients safely to Radiology and support their journey through the department.
  • Provide care and practical assistance to patients attending the Community Diagnostic Centres at Askham Bar and Selby.
  • Work alongside clinical staff in examination rooms, including helping with patient movement, chaperoning and supervision.
  • Assist patients with changing before and after examinations.
  • Support personal care needs such as hygiene, toilet assistance, and general comfort.
  • Keep changing rooms and waiting areas clean, orderly and ready for use at all times.

What the team is looking for

You should be an effective communicator with experience dealing with members of the public. The role calls for someone who is adaptable, well organised, team-oriented, energetic, keen to learn, and able to contribute positively to a busy clinical environment.

Application guidance

When applying, include clear examples from your experience that show how you meet the person specification and the skills needed for the role.

Interview arrangement

Interviews for this post will take place in person only at one of the Trust's sites. Remote interviews will not be arranged.

Benefits

Staff are offered a range of employment benefits, including access to the NHS Pension Scheme, paid holiday that starts at 27 days and increases to 33 days depending on NHS Trust service, and a mix of paid and unpaid leave for both emergency and planned time away from work. Additional support is available through a confidential Employee Assistance Programme, which provides 24/7 advice for personal, family, work, and relationship matters. Other perks include the NHS Car Lease scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, broad learning and development options, and discounts across restaurants, holidays, shopping, motoring, cinema, and finance providers.
