About the company

ASB is a purpose-driven organisation that aims to help people, communities, and the environment flourish together. Guided by Courage, Care, and Curiosity, the bank focuses on challenging the norm, genuinely supporting the people it serves, and continuously finding better ways to work. It combines the reach and stability of a large enterprise with a strong appreciation for individual contribution.

About the role

The Customer Tribe supports ASB across the business by delivering customer and colleague experiences through specialist platforms such as Salesforce. This team brings together platform experts who are committed to building smooth, customer-centric solutions for both staff and customers.

In this Senior Software Engineer - Salesforce Functional role, you will work directly on varied and complex initiatives within a smaller squad focused on innovation and platform capability. The role involves helping to sustain strong service levels, scalability, and performance across the Salesforce environment while supporting the growth of customer and operational capability.

What you will do

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver Salesforce solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Convert business needs into functional designs that can scale, along with clear user stories.
  • Contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing, release, and ongoing improvement.
  • Support backlog grooming, prioritisation, and solution-planning discussions.
  • Assist integration work and connected-system initiatives that strengthen platform capability and improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to platform governance, tuning, and enhancement activities.
  • Join design workshops and provide functional expertise across the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Help sustain strong platform performance, usability, and service availability.
  • Share knowledge and mentor colleagues within the wider Salesforce practice.

About you

You bring solid Salesforce experience and are comfortable explaining business needs, shaping them into functional solutions, and influencing delivery outcomes across the SDLC. You work well with others, communicate clearly, and build trusted relationships with stakeholders while helping teams strengthen their capability.

Skills and experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Salesforce environments.
  • Strong functional understanding of Salesforce, including Sales Cloud and/or Service Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce configuration, including objects, fields, layouts, security, and Flows.
  • Experience building OmniScripts and using Salesforce Industries components such as DataRaptors, Integration Procedures, and FlexCards.
  • Good understanding of the end-to-end delivery process.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable functional solutions.
  • Confidence in applying and communicating industry best practices.
  • Experience in Agile delivery environments, with certification or practical exposure.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise applications in Agile ways of working.
  • Understanding of integrations and connected systems, plus strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to participate in design sessions, produce solution documentation, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
