Job Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager for Packaging NPD will spearhead packaging development for new product introductions and enhancements to existing products. This role involves identifying, assessing, and approving packaging materials to ensure optimal product quality, extended shelf life, and cost-efficiency. Key duties include planning and executing packaging trials, validations, and commercialization processes. The position requires close collaboration with R&D, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Marketing departments to ensure successful project completion. Responsibilities also encompass managing the development of packaging artwork, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards, and championing packaging innovation, sustainability efforts, and value engineering projects. The role involves coordinating with packaging material suppliers for development and testing, preparing detailed packaging specifications and technical documentation, and conducting root cause analyses for packaging-related issues. Furthermore, the Assistant Manager will monitor packaging expenditures, identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality, and ensure strict compliance with GMP, HACCP, FSSAI, and internal quality standards. Continuous improvement initiatives to boost packaging efficiency and productivity are also a key focus.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Food Technology, or a related discipline. A minimum of 7 to 8 years of experience in Packaging Development or New Product Development (NPD) within the FMCG or food industry is required. Essential knowledge includes flexible packaging materials and the commercialization of packaging. Prior experience with packaging trials, artwork development, and vendor coordination is necessary. Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and FSSAI regulations is expected. Proficiency in MS Excel and SAP/ERP systems is a must, alongside strong capabilities in project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional teamwork.
