Role overview
Penrith City Council is hiring three permanent full-time Field Operator Labourers to join its Civil Operations team in Penrith, New South Wales. This practical, outdoor role is based at the Kingswood Works Depot and focuses on supporting the upkeep and improvement of public spaces and civil assets across the city.
What the role involves
You’ll be part of a team that carries out a broad mix of maintenance and civil works. The work changes from day to day and may include roads, drainage, cleaning, waste services, and general civil maintenance activities.
- Use a variety of plant, tools and equipment for public space maintenance and civil works.
- Carry out routine inspections and basic upkeep to keep equipment safe and ready for use.
- Complete manual labouring tasks connected to civil construction and maintenance.
- Assist with traffic control activities when needed and help keep worksites safe.
- Provide respectful and helpful customer service to community members.
- Work closely with colleagues to maintain a productive, safe and supportive environment.
- Follow workplace health and safety rules, Council procedures and relevant laws at all times.

Essential requirements
- Hands-on experience in general civil labouring or a similar practical field.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Ability to interact appropriately with members of the public.
- White Card for working safely in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, WHS and EEO principles.
Desirable experience
- Formal study in horticulture, civil construction or a related area.
- Capability in using different plant and equipment items.
- Current Traffic Controller card (Blue ticket).
- Current Class C driver licence.
- Previous experience in local government.
