Job purpose

This role is focused on delivering underwriting support across all product lines within New Business Underwriting.

Key responsibilities

Assess new applications for life, accident and health, disability income, and long-term care cases.
Review and sign off on cases, while also offering support and direction to junior underwriters.
Advise financial planners through e-booking platforms, email, phone support, and the NBU counter.
Act as an important link between New Business Underwriting and distribution teams, strengthening working relationships.
Help the department meet all key performance targets.
Deliver underwriting training for distribution partners.
Support projects such as updating underwriting guidelines and improving workflows to make operations more efficient.
Take ownership of business and regulatory compliance risks, and implement suitable mitigation steps.
Stay informed about regulatory developments, emerging threats, and new technologies that may affect risk management and company protection.
Raise concerns early and share effective risk management practices proactively.

Requirements

A degree with at least 5 years of experience in underwriting life, accident, and health risks is preferred.
Candidates without a degree may also be considered if they have relevant underwriting experience or certification.
Strong analytical ability, with the confidence to perform well under pressure and contribute as part of a team.
Clear interpersonal and communication skills.
High integrity, a strong sense of accountability, and a collaborative working style.
Proactive mindset with the flexibility to adapt to change and improve existing processes.
