Planning Engineer

Role summary

The Planning Engineer will be tasked with shaping and maintaining project timelines so work finishes on schedule, resources are used efficiently, and project risks are addressed early. The role focuses on building detailed plans, tracking actual progress, and supporting corrective actions when performance slips.

Core responsibilities

• Build complete project schedules from the defined scope, available resources, and project limitations, making sure milestones and timeframes are accurately reflected.
• Work closely with site management to deploy manpower, equipment, and materials in a way that supports smooth project delivery and avoids waste.
• Track ongoing progress against the approved programme, compare actual achievement with planned activities, and prepare progress updates for leadership and stakeholders. Where required, contribute to recovery, acceleration, and mitigation plans based on the current status.
• Review schedule health using tools such as critical path and variance analysis, then highlight issues that may affect delivery.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders so that scheduling priorities, changes, and dependencies remain aligned.
• Support delay analysis activities and help prepare extension of time submissions by assessing how delays affect project timelines.
• Set up and maintain an organized project document control system for dashboards, trackers, and progress reports.
• Share schedule updates with clients, contractors, and authorities, while helping manage expectations and resolving schedule-related concerns.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering is required.
• Applicants should have 4 to 5 years of experience working as a Planning Engineer in the construction sector.
• A solid background in project planning and scheduling across construction assignments of different types and sizes is expected.
• Hands-on knowledge of scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, along with critical path analysis and delay analysis, is important.
• Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal abilities are needed to work effectively across teams.
• The ideal candidate should be able to stay organized, handle pressure well, and prioritize tasks effectively.
