Procurement Manager

Role summary

Connecticut Innovations is seeking a Procurement Manager to support HealthyBaby, a mission-driven brand focused on safer baby and maternal care products. In this role, you will help expand and strengthen the company’s global supplier base as the product line grows across multiple categories.

The position covers the full procurement cycle, including sourcing, supplier and contract manufacturer management, purchasing, and supply planning coordination in NetSuite. You will help ensure materials, components, and manufacturing partnerships meet the company’s expectations for quality, safety, performance, and cost control while working closely with Operations, Product Development, and Finance.

The ideal candidate has practical experience working with contract manufacturers and material suppliers for complex, multi-component consumer products such as textiles, absorbent hygiene, or similar categories, and understands how sourcing and planning decisions affect product quality, service levels, and margins.

What you will do

• Identify, assess, and bring on suppliers and contract manufacturing partners that fit HealthyBaby’s standards.
• Manage both daily and long-term relationships with contract manufacturers across cost, quality, service, capacity, and growth readiness.
• Develop and maintain a diversified supplier base for key materials and components to improve resilience.
• Regularly review supplier and manufacturer capabilities, innovation potential, and risk exposure.
• Handle procurement execution in NetSuite, including purchase orders, supplier pricing, item master data, lead times, and replenishment settings.
• Work with Operations to align demand planning and supply planning so materials are available for production.
• Track inventory levels, open purchase orders, and inbound supply risks.
• Help improve procurement and planning processes within NetSuite.
• Source raw materials, components, and packaging across product categories.
• Partner with Product Development to select materials that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
• Use category knowledge for textile-based and absorbent product inputs such as nonwovens, films, elastics, and adhesives.
• Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, lead times, and contract terms with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Understand major cost drivers such as materials, labor, logistics, and scale.
• Build cost models and identify savings opportunities without reducing quality.
• Support product launches from sourcing through production ramp-up.
• Ensure sourcing plans align with specifications, timelines, and target costs.
• Spot supply and manufacturing risks early and take action to reduce them.
• Work closely with contract manufacturers during development and scaling.
• Identify and reduce risks related to materials and manufacturing continuity.
• Develop dual-sourcing approaches where appropriate.
• Respond quickly to disruptions and protect continuity of supply for critical inputs.
• Make sure suppliers and manufacturers meet standards for quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and transparency.
• Support audits, certifications, and ongoing supplier performance reviews.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product Development/Commercialization, Marketing, and Finance to connect supply decisions with business goals.
• Maintain accurate supplier and procurement records in NetSuite.
• Improve workflows, reporting, and system usage for greater efficiency and scale.
• Use data to improve sourcing decisions and track supplier performance.

Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles within consumer packaged goods or a related industry.
• Practical, hands-on use of NetSuite for purchasing, supplier management, and inventory or planning coordination.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers across global supply chains.
• Background sourcing materials for complex, multi-component products; experience in textiles, personal care, absorbent, or hygiene-related categories is preferred.
• Strong negotiation ability with measurable impact on cost and commercial terms.
• Solid understanding of supply chain basics, including lead times, minimum order quantities, capacity, and risk management.
• Strong analytical and systems skills, with comfort working through data and cost models.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment.
• High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and safety.
