Product Validation Engineer

Role overview

This opportunity is aimed at someone who wants to build a long-term engineering career rather than take a short-term role. It offers the chance to work on advanced machine control and positioning technology that supports major projects around the world.

Based in Western Christchurch, the position sits with a global original equipment manufacturer serving the construction and mining sectors. The contract runs for 12 months and may be extended or converted into a permanent role.

The work is centered on technologies that improve how operators use heavy equipment, making operations safer, more accurate, and more efficient. The role is suited to candidates interested in GNSS, machine control, grade control, automation, surveying, and construction technology.

Role progression

You will begin as a Product Validation Engineer and later have the opportunity to move into a Product Service Engineer role. The first stage is focused on testing, validation, and product development support, while the second stage moves into technical support, quality ownership, and customer-facing leadership.

Future Product Service Engineer scope

• Providing advanced level 2/3 technical support
• Taking ownership of product quality
• Working directly with dealers and customers
• Supporting technical leadership and ongoing improvement efforts

What the employer is looking for

Applicants should have a qualification in one of the following or a related field: Civil Engineering, Surveying, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics Engineering.

Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting ability are important. Experience in GNSS, machine control, automation, testing, surveying, or technical support environments will be highly regarded.

A full New Zealand driver licence is required.
