Role Overview
The Training Manager sits within the Operations Services function and is accountable for creating, rolling out, and measuring learning programs that strengthen employee capability and improve operational performance. The position works closely with department leadership to uncover skill gaps, build tailored learning solutions, and make sure employees are prepared to perform effectively. It is also responsible for onboarding, ongoing skill development, and internal communication for training launches across the organization.
Training Program Design & Delivery
- Build and update end-to-end learning paths for operational roles, covering onboarding, job-specific technical learning, and leadership development.
- Create and deliver classroom-led, digital, and blended learning experiences that align with business goals.
- Produce training assets such as guides, job aids, slide decks, quick-reference tools, and online learning content.
- Run interactive training sessions for audiences across different levels of the business.
Needs Assessment & Performance Consulting
- Work with operations and HR leaders to assess learning needs and identify capability gaps across teams.
- Convert business priorities and operational issues into focused learning interventions.
- Advise managers on improving performance and building stronger teams.
Program Management & Administration
- Coordinate training projects from planning through delivery, including timelines, resources, and outside partners.
- Keep training completion records, certification data, and tracking information current in the Learning Management System.
- Handle scheduling, event logistics, and communication for workshops and training sessions.
- Monitor training budgets and summarize spending.
Internal Communications & Training Activation
- Plan and execute communication strategies that promote, launch, and sustain learning programs across Operations Services.
- Write announcements, newsletters, and campaign content that encourage awareness and participation.
- Lead training activation efforts by managing timing, channels, audience targeting, and messaging flow across email, intranet, digital signage, and team meetings.
- Partner with operations and HR to ensure training expectations, deadlines, and key updates are communicated clearly.
- Maintain a communications calendar for launches, reminders, and follow-up messages.
- Prepare post-training messages that reinforce learning, highlight completions, and share outcomes with stakeholders.
- Use internal tools such as SharePoint, Teams, the company intranet, and newsletters to broaden reach and engagement.
- Measure communication and campaign performance, then use the results to improve future activations.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Review training data and performance metrics to spot trends, assess return on investment, and recommend improvements.
- Refresh programs regularly based on feedback, operational changes, and evolving best practices.
Compliance & Quality
- Make sure all learning programs meet applicable regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
- Stay current on compliance training obligations and update materials as needed.
- Collaborate with Quality and Compliance teams on audit readiness and corrective-action learning initiatives.
What You Bring
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in training and development, with a minimum of 2 years in an operations or service setting.
- Proven ability to design and deliver multiple training formats, including instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, and job-aid based learning.
- Strong background in instructional design and adult learning approaches such as ADDIE or SAM.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills with the ability to connect with varied audiences.
- Experience creating internal communications and training campaign content such as announcements and newsletters.
- Ability to run multi-channel communication campaigns and measure engagement results.
- Hands-on experience with e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, or Adobe Captivate.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into practical action.
- Highly organized and able to manage several projects at once in a fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; SharePoint experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility across all organizational levels.
- Experience working with an LMS and reporting on training metrics.
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
- A master’s degree or recognized certifications such as ATD CPTD or SHRM-CP are preferred.
- Five or more years of direct training and development experience is required; prior supervision or people management experience is preferred.
