Vice President of Global Logistics

Role overview

This position offers a chance to build and scale a secure cross-border transportation network for a bank’s high-value cargo operations. The focus is on creating dependable international lanes across CIS, the Middle East, Africa, and other key markets, with strong attention to compliance, custody, security, and delivery performance.

The role suits a senior logistics professional who is comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on. You will partner closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other internal stakeholders to source transport partners, launch secure routes, manage live movements, and strengthen the infrastructure needed for international growth.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and execute logistics plans that support commercial expansion and the movement of high-value cargo.
• Source, evaluate, and onboard transport providers that can handle secure shipments across multiple regions.
• Create, validate, and refine international routes across CIS, the Middle East, Africa, and other priority corridors.
• Manage day-to-day and long-term relationships with airlines, high-value cargo carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, CIT providers, ground handlers, and other logistics vendors.
• Handle airline bookings, shipment preparation, paperwork readiness, cargo acceptance, handover, and airport handling coordination for valuable cargo.
• Travel to priority countries to assess partners, review operational readiness, support new route launches, and solve issues on location.
• Maintain adherence to trade rules, customs procedures, aviation security requirements, sanctions controls, and transportation standards.
• Drive contingency planning and risk controls to reduce disruptions, custody gaps, security incidents, documentation failures, and border delays.
• Negotiate contracts, service levels, pricing, insurance coverage, and operating procedures to improve reliability and value.
• Track shipment performance, partner reliability, costs, route efficiency, and related metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Promote better workflows, logistics systems, and practical technology adoption to improve visibility and scalability.
• Represent the bank in meetings with partners, clients, regional events, and industry conferences.

Required background

We are seeking a logistics leader with at least 10 years of progressive experience in international logistics, secure transportation, supply chain, aviation cargo, or high-value cargo operations. The ideal candidate has built cross-border lanes, worked across several countries, and has direct exposure to specialist providers serving sensitive or valuable shipments.

Strong knowledge of airline cargo workflows is important, including booking, cargo acceptance, documentation, airport handling, transfer coordination, and escalation handling. You should also bring a solid grasp of international shipping, customs, trade compliance, aviation security, and global transport networks.

This role requires a practical, execution-oriented approach, strong judgment, discretion, and excellent communication skills in regulated, security-sensitive, and cross-border environments. Regular travel across CIS, the Middle East, Africa, and other priority markets is expected.

Preferred experience

• Prior involvement in moving banknotes, precious metals, securities, or similar high-value goods.
• Existing relationships with airlines, secure logistics firms, cargo handlers, customs brokers, or CIT providers in CIS, the Middle East, or Africa.
• Experience building logistics functions in a startup, growth-stage, or newly established international setting.
• Familiarity with regional aviation, customs, and security practices in emerging or frontier markets.
