About the Company
Bihn Construction is an expanding general contracting firm based in the Upstate of South Carolina. The company delivers public and private work across municipal, K-12, higher education, parks and recreation, commercial, hospitality, industrial, and selective high-end residential markets.
Its project portfolio includes new builds, renovations, interior fit-outs, site development, public works, and custom homes. The company partners with municipalities, school districts, universities, developers, businesses, and private clients across the region.
With project demand continuing to rise, the company is looking for an Assistant Project Manager who can support delivery across several jobs while building toward a future Project Manager role.
Role Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will help drive successful execution of multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role combines coordination, field participation, subcontractor oversight, documentation, client communication, and administrative support.
The right person will be well organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing several priorities at once. This position involves both office and field work and is intended for someone who wants to grow into broader project leadership. Day to day, the role includes project execution support, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, procurement, documentation, communication, and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project coordination and delivery
- Support commercial, public, civil, and residential projects from award through final closeout.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, procurement, and general project execution.
- Work with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors throughout each project lifecycle.
- Help keep schedules on track and follow up on outstanding items until commitments are completed.
- Assist with project startup, setup, and closeout activities.
Client and team communication
- Participate in client meetings, OAC meetings, preconstruction meetings, and coordination sessions.
- Prepare agendas, meeting notes, and action-item trackers.
- Send weekly progress updates and keep clients informed on project status.
- Represent the company professionally with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and public agencies.
- Help resolve project issues through clear communication and proactive coordination.
Subcontractor and vendor management
- Assist with subcontractor buyout, including bid solicitation, scope comparison, bid leveling, and procurement.
- Help prepare and issue subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
- Track insurance certificates, subcontract execution, and compliance records.
- Coordinate subcontractor schedules and project logistics.
- Manage material deliveries and supplier coordination.
Documentation and administration
- Handle RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, permits, inspection records, and project correspondence.
- Keep both digital and hard-copy project files orderly and up to date.
- Distribute project information to internal team members and subcontractors as needed.
- Track drawing revisions, specification changes, and project records.
- Support document control and process implementation efforts.
Cost and financial support
- Assist with pricing, tracking, and completion of change orders.
- Support owner billings and reviews of subcontractor payment applications.
- Maintain project logs and cost tracking data.
- Assist with budget monitoring and reporting.
- Help ensure records support accurate billing and cost control.
Field operations support
- Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress and assist field teams.
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep work moving.
- Assist with punch lists and project closeout activities.
- Support quality control and field documentation.
- Help identify project risks early and communicate them before they escalate.

The ideal candidate brings 3 to 5+ years of experience with a general contractor or established subcontractor in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or comparable role.
- Background supporting construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other project stakeholders.

- Strong organizational ability and comfort managing multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Buildertrend, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and construction management tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across the Upstate region.
Preferred Background

- Problem-solving ability in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in view.
- Team-oriented communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal staff.
- Interest in growing with the company and taking on greater responsibility over time.
- Accountability, organization, and a commitment to quality work.
Compensation and Growth
Pay will be competitive and aligned with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capability.
