What the Role Is About
The organisation is known for providing high-quality care in modern residential settings and attractive outdoor environments, along with engaging day programmes designed to be stimulating and enjoyable. The team supports people with complex needs including autism, Asperger syndrome, acquired brain injuries, challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities with Alzheimer’s or dementia, mental health rehabilitation and recovery, and personality disorders.
The Assistant Support Worker will help deliver person-centred care that enables individuals to build independence, reach personal goals, and live meaningful lives in their communities. Training and development will be provided to help the successful candidate grow into the role while building professional working relationships with service users and colleagues.
Key Duties
- Help individuals organise and manage their daily routines and activities.
- Support participation in community life and local activities.
- Assist with education, personal development, and progress toward individual goals.
- Encourage and support independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and maintaining family and social relationships.
- Follow company policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and relevant codes of practice as far as reasonably possible.
- Work flexible shifts within a 24-hour, 7-day service to meet service needs.
- Carry out additional duties appropriate to the post when required.
Candidate Profile
This role is suited to someone who is compassionate, self-motivated, and committed to supporting people to live fuller and more independent lives. Formal qualifications are not required, as full training and continued development are available.
Previous experience in a support role, or other relevant life experience, is helpful but not essential. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are important, along with the confidence to build positive relationships with individuals, families, co-workers, and other professionals.
A full driving licence is required, or the applicant must be actively working toward obtaining one. Flexibility, dependability, and willingness to work varied shifts are also important.
