Role overview
This opportunity is for a United States-based Collections Team Manager working for a partner employer. Applications and the rest of the hiring process are handled by that company. The position is a strategic leadership role within a global collections operation, combining day-to-day team management with direct involvement in challenging receivables cases and recovery initiatives.
The role sits in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment where you will guide a collections team, improve operating discipline, and help shape a stronger payment experience for customers. You will work closely with Finance, Billing, Sales, and Customer Success to accelerate cash collection, lower aged receivables, and remove barriers that slow down payment. The position also calls for process design, dashboard creation, and continuous improvement work to make the function more scalable and effective.
Key responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow a team of Collections Specialists while setting clear performance standards and encouraging accountability.
- Act as a hands-on leader for difficult, high-risk, or escalated customer accounts when extra support is required.
- Track receivables aging, collection performance indicators, and cash flow measures to prioritize team efforts.
- Lead recovery activities such as payment negotiations, installment arrangements, and the handling of credit balances.
- Support month-end close activities, maintain audit readiness, and follow internal controls and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with Finance, Sales, Billing, and Customer Success to resolve payment obstacles and improve collection results.
- Spot recurring issues, identify root causes, and recommend improvements that strengthen the collections process.
- Create dashboards, reporting views, and repeatable workflows that improve visibility, efficiency, and scale.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 5 years of B2B collections or accounts receivable experience, including direct responsibility for managing accounts.
- At least 2 years of people management experience, ideally including distributed or global teams.
- Strong knowledge of collections operations, AR processes, and cash application activities.
- Demonstrated success in coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret financial data, identify risks, and uncover patterns or root causes.
- Experience using ERP platforms, collections tools, and reporting systems.
- Comfort working across Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations teams.
Benefits and work environment
- Remote-first role available across the United States.
- Competitive base pay with performance-based incentives, where applicable.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Paid time off, flexible leave options, and paid holidays.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions.
- Paid parental leave and additional family support offerings.
- Employer-provided life insurance and disability coverage.
- Collaborative, mission-driven culture with leadership support and room for career growth.
