Stellenbeschreibung
Role overview
This position is interview-based and involves driving company vehicles to complete package deliveries and pickups efficiently. The courier will work in a floating capacity across at least 15 routes rather than being tied to one permanent route. The role also includes setting an example for hourly team members through mentoring, clear communication, conflict handling, and leadership grounded in best-practice methods.
Revenue support
In addition to delivery work, the role is expected to identify opportunities to support sales and help create additional revenue wherever practical.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The role also calls for about six months of time to learn or adapt to the position, along with six months of prior courier experience.
Job notes
Employees in this position are not assigned a fixed route. Instead, they cover open routes when the regular courier is unavailable. The need for a dangerous goods specialist depends on station size and location, and senior management may revise this requirement as needed.
Technical requirements
Candidates must hold a valid driver’s licence and maintain a strong driving record. They must be able to complete all initial and refresher training, including dangerous goods certification, and keep that accreditation current through yearly recertification before it expires. The role also requires the ability to obtain and retain FedEx dangerous goods specialist certification, a solid understanding of FedEx products, service features, and general operations, and the physical capacity to lift up to 70 lbs and handle parcels weighing as much as 150 lbs with suitable equipment. Familiarity with Federal Express operations and Canadian customs rules is considered an advantage. In Quebec, bilingual ability in French and English is mandatory.
Interpersonal requirements
The position calls for strong customer-facing and people skills, along with excellent communication. Candidates should also be capable of analytical thinking, problem solving, prioritization, and staying organized.
Additional conditions
This job description is broad and is not intended to list every duty, responsibility, or qualification for the role. Employees may be asked to take on other tasks as assigned, meet minimum requirements for mandatory tests and training, work in a Windows environment, complete recurring training successfully, maintain annual accreditations where applicable, and work varying shifts as operational needs change.
Driving eligibility and selection criteria
For roles where driving is a core function, applicants must have a valid licence such as class 5, G, or 1[AZ]. Their driving record must show no more than two violations and/or accidents in the 24 months before applying. Candidates will be assessed based on their annual driving record, interview performance, and results from driving assessments.
Employment equity
FedEx states that it values diversity and inclusion and aims to provide a safe, respectful workplace that reflects its customers and the communities it serves. It encourages women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, members of cultural communities, and 2ELGBTQ+ candidates to apply, and its HR team will adapt the hiring process to accommodate specific needs.
