Role overview
One Stop Stores Ltd is hiring a Customer Service Assistant for its Southampton store. This position sits within a busy retail setting where responsibilities change from moment to moment. The role is centered on delivering friendly, high-quality service, helping with shelf replenishment, handling payments, and keeping the shop floor presentable and well run.
You will play a key part in keeping daily store operations running smoothly, while also helping create a safe, welcoming place for customers and colleagues. The role also involves using feedback and coaching to continually improve the customer experience.
Key duties
- Provide warm, natural service and build positive relationships with customers.
- Encourage shoppers to share feedback through the customer survey process.
- Support multiple areas of the store, including tills, online orders, replenishment, vending, and stock routines.
- Apply the training you receive to work safely and follow store procedures.
- Take part in seasonal, community, and charity activities that help create an inclusive atmosphere.
- Understand store performance and contribute to achieving profit goals.
- Represent the company’s values in a professional, welcoming way.
- Record clock-in and clock-out times at the beginning and end of shifts so pay is accurate.
- Help keep colleagues and customers safe by following security rules and using protective equipment where provided.
- Follow age-restricted sales rules, including the Think 25 policy.
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout assistance requests and explain actions clearly to customers.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and orderly sales floor, keeping aisles clear.
- Step in to run the shift when the Shift Leader and Store Manager are unavailable, if required.
- Follow all training and legal requirements to keep the store safe and compliant.
- If the store includes a Post Office Local, carry out day-to-day post office duties and pass the required Post Office financial and criminal conviction background checks; failure to pass these checks will result in withdrawal of the offer.
