Role overview
This position is with a long-running steel manufacturing and fabrication company that is looking for a dependable and motivated Engineering Trade Assistant / Labourer to join the workshop team on an ongoing basis. The role suits someone who enjoys practical work, cares about quality, and has a real interest in steel processing and fabrication.
Location
The role is available in multiple areas, including Brisbane Western Suburbs / Ipswich and Brisbane Southern Suburbs / Gold Coast.
What you will do
Working with experienced tradespeople in the workshop, you will support a range of manufacturing and fabrication activities. The role involves handling steel, assisting with machinery, helping fabricators and welders, preparing materials for production, supporting output against schedules, and carrying out general workshop cleaning and upkeep.
Skills and experience
The employer is seeking someone with a genuine interest in engineering, steel manufacturing, and fabrication. You should be comfortable with hands-on workshop work, bring a positive attitude, show reliability and punctuality, be willing to learn, work well within a team, and follow workplace safety practices.
Experience in brake press operation, CNC machinery, laser cutting equipment, sheet metal folding, fabrication, or welding would be highly regarded. However, candidates who are enthusiastic and eager to develop new skills are also encouraged to apply.

This position offers full-time hours, pay of $35 to $40 per hour depending on experience, ongoing stable employment, opportunities to build new skills, a supportive team environment, and exposure to a broad range of steel manufacturing and fabrication processes.
