Role overview
Airservices Australia is seeking applications from experienced, previously trained Air Traffic Controllers who are already rated and endorsed. This opportunity sits within a fast-moving aviation environment where decisions have a direct impact on the safety of passengers and the efficiency of airspace operations.
The position is open only to applicants who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents. It is not available to international candidates.
About the organisation
Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation that manages the safe and efficient movement of aircraft across 11% of the world’s airspace and also provides aviation rescue firefighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.
The organisation operates across Australia in metropolitan, regional, remote, and island locations. Its work supports the aviation network every day of the year, both in the air and on the ground, while helping connect people, support trade and tourism, and contribute to economic activity.
Airservices is also adapting its services to respond to emerging airspace users, new aerodromes, crewed and uncrewed aircraft, and changing environmental and social expectations.
The organisation is focused on building a high-performing, safe, respectful, trusted, and inclusive culture, with a strong emphasis on psychological safety and accountability.
What the role involves
This is a delivery-focused opportunity for a qualified Air Traffic Controller who wants to continue building a career in a nationally significant aviation organisation. Training length and location will depend on the outcome of an individual training needs analysis.
Candidate profile
Airservices is looking for people who are motivated, service-oriented, and comfortable working in high-pressure environments where accuracy and judgment are essential.
Pre-application and compliance requirements
To be considered, you must already hold the relevant air traffic control rating and endorsement, and you must have worked as an operational Air Traffic Controller within the last five years or be currently employed in such a role.
You must also be able to hold or obtain a Class 3 Medical Certificate, as required for Air Traffic Controller licensing by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Candidates who do not meet the medical standards in Part 67 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations will not be eligible for ATC licensing, training, or employment.
Applicants are strongly advised to review Regulation 67.160 before applying and to contact CASA on 131 757 if they are unsure whether they meet the required medical standards.
As part of the recruitment process, a successful Police Records Check is required. This may include disclosure of past convictions or current/pending criminal matters, and candidates who have lived overseas may need to provide overseas police checks in English.
An ASIC is required for this role, so only Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents may apply.
Application process
Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter, and qualifications. Questions about the process can be directed to the Talent Acquisition Team at asainternational@airservicesaustralia.com.
Additional information
Airservices Australia welcomes applications from diverse groups, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
The organisation offers ongoing training throughout your career and other strong benefits.
