About the Company

Steel & Tube Holdings Ltd is a well-established New Zealand steel solutions business with more than 70 years of history. Its galvanising operation protects steel with a zinc coating using the hot-dip method, helping prevent corrosion in products used across construction, infrastructure, rural, and engineering projects throughout the country.

Role Overview

The Hamilton site is looking to add two Galvanisers to the team. This is a permanent, full-time, hands-on industrial role reporting to the Operations Manager.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be involved in the complete galvanising workflow and will work in a physically demanding environment where heat, chemicals, and heavy materials are part of the day-to-day.

• Sorting and managing steel at the black end, including items affected by contamination
• Looking after acid baths so the pickling process remains effective
• Lowering steel safely into the molten zinc kettle
• Working on the white end by checking finished items, removing excess zinc through fettling, and packing and stacking job lots safely
• Keeping work areas free from hazards and supporting safe operations at all times
• Assisting customers when needed
• Communicating clearly and proactively to support quality, efficiency, and smooth workflow

About You

The ideal person brings the right mindset for a tough but rewarding industrial role. You should be dependable, punctual, comfortable working closely with others, and committed to maintaining a strong safety focus.

You will need to be capable of heavy physical work, think practically, spot problems early, and take pride in producing a quality end product. Previous galvanising experience is not required, as full on-the-job training will be provided, although it would be an advantage.

Desirable Experience

It would be helpful if you have any of the following: a forklift licence with F endorsement, experience operating an overhead gantry crane, exposure to chemical handling, or health and safety training.
