About The Role
Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to manage a variety of upkeep tasks. This includes performing repairs, minor construction and alterations, painting, and general handyman duties. The role also encompasses gardening, grounds maintenance, and ensuring all equipment and premises are kept in a safe and functional condition. All work must be conducted professionally.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Conducting gardening activities such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, watering, mulching, and weeding.
- Performing regular sweeping, rubbish removal, and grounds cleaning using blowers, vacuums, or hoses.
- Undertaking minor repairs to equipment and furniture, painting, and relocating furniture and classroom supplies.
- Executing daily security checks, including opening gates and securing the site at the close of the day.
- Ensuring a secure and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Providing support for the setup of school events and functions.

Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in maintenance roles.
- Possession of an LR driver's license.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively within a team, with strong oral and written skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to offer advice and support to management and staff regarding work-related matters.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Previous experience working in outdoor environments.
- Familiarity with safety requirements and regulations.
- Experience in cleaning and general maintenance tasks.
- Capability to perform the physical and technical duties specific to the role.
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check.
- A National Criminal History Check (Newcastle Anglican will assess the relevance of any reported outcomes).
- Applicants will undergo screening for child protection purposes, as we are a Child Safe School.
Desirable
- Relevant qualifications in Safety, Horticulture, Maintenance, or Cleaning.
