Materials Supervisor

Role overview

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day direction of warehouse activity, with a focus on safe, secure, and efficient movement of materials into and out of the facility. The position works closely with department managers, suppliers, and internal teams to keep inventory accurate, manage costs, and improve operational performance. This leader is expected to set the tone for safety, model strong work habits, and continuously improve warehouse quality and processes.

Core responsibilities

• Manage inbound receiving, storage, and inventory control activities to keep operations accurate and efficient.
• Create, roll out, and uphold warehouse procedures and operating standards.
• Make sure warehouse equipment is used properly and safely, and that all safety rules are followed.
• Recruit, coach, review, and develop members of the warehouse team.
• Keep complete and accurate records of warehouse transactions and activities.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and timely system updates.
• Ensure the warehouse is kept orderly, clean, and compliant with safety expectations.
• Work with department leaders and vendors to support inventory targets and cost goals.
• Handle additional duties as assigned.

Required background and experience

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in warehouse management.
• Solid knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control practices.
• Ability to work with inventory systems and reconcile data accurately.
• Forklift operation capability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven people leadership skills and a collaborative approach.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with MRP and ERP platforms; Dynamics 365 knowledge is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to train, guide, and mentor warehouse employees.
• Good time management and flexibility in shifting priorities.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
