About the Role
This opportunity is for a Mechanical Engineer Expert working remotely on a contract basis. The role is focused on evaluating mechanical engineering content for an AI research environment, with an emphasis on technical accuracy, clarity, and rigor.
The organization connects highly skilled technical and creative professionals with leading AI research teams. The compensation for this role is $90 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine mechanical engineering problems, solutions, and explanations to confirm they are accurate, complete, and methodologically sound.
- Spot mistakes, unclear sections, and logical gaps, then provide feedback that is specific, reasoned, and useful.
- Use a consistent evaluation approach across areas such as statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and machine design.
- Align judgments with established quality standards so reviews remain dependable and consistent.
- Help uphold a strong technical quality bar across the material being reviewed.
- Work on your own schedule in an asynchronous setting while meeting deadlines and improving the quality of technical content.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a closely related discipline. A strong grasp of core mechanical engineering principles is essential, along with the ability to solve problems carefully from first principles. The role also requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to detect subtle technical issues, and strong written communication skills so you can explain clearly why something is correct or incorrect. Comfort with independent work and the consistent use of structured review criteria is important.
Preferred Background
Advanced study such as a master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Prior experience in technical review, grading, tutoring, or quality assurance is also a plus.
