Role overview

This position is responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement category for Powertrain. The role covers strategy development, category leadership, supplier ownership, and ensuring the right parts are secured at the right time so the business can achieve strong commercial outcomes aligned to group strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Run procurement activity across the assigned Powertrain category.
  • Identify and source components and systems that best meet technical, commercial, vehicle, and operational needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute sourcing decisions for the category, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and procurement teams.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure balanced commercial terms while considering technical feasibility, volume requirements, quality, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Deliver project targets for material cost, tooling cost, and timing.
  • Monitor global supply-market developments and assess impacts on the business.
  • Build category strategies collaboratively, using both market trends and internal needs.
  • Spot supply-chain risks and develop mitigation actions.
  • Manage raw-material volatility with suppliers and across commodities in the category.
  • Secure dependable supply chains for serial production.
  • Support the Procurement Manager with the shift from project procurement to operational procurement.
  • Contribute to procurement activities during the project phase, including close coordination with cost engineering.
  • Partner with Engineering, Commercial, and Industrialisation teams to align future demand, materials, and equipment plans.
  • Work with the wider INEOS organisation to create group-wide leverage opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience, ideally gained with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive supplier or an automotive OEM.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive procurement from concept through industrialisation and into operations, with a focus on Powertrain.
  • Deep understanding of automotive supply chain and procurement practices developed over a long career in vehicle manufacturing.
  • Proven project management ability with a strong delivery record.
  • Experience building and maintaining senior supplier relationships.
  • Background in strategic procurement and/or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Strong prioritisation, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong interpersonal ability.
  • Willingness to travel significantly for the role.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
  • SAP experience is preferred, though training will be provided.
  • English is required.
  • German would be an advantage.
