Project Scheduler

About the role

Nova Systems is seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to join its Project Controls - Schedule and Cost Services team. In this position, you will help improve schedule quality across CASG by guiding project practitioners and teams on sound scheduling and project controls practices that support consistent, high-quality planning and delivery.

You will also work with Defence project schedulers to connect selected projects to the Cobra Cost Forecasting tool, offering troubleshooting support, specialist advice, and practical technical solutions for complex issues.

This position may be based in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, or Adelaide.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with Open Plan (OPP) schedule health remediation ahead of Cobra integration
• Investigate and resolve advanced issues in OPP and Cobra
• Deliver Cobra training for project teams
• Integrate project schedules into the Cobra cost tool across projects of varying complexity
• Prepare accurate Cobra inputs and analysis for internal and client reporting
• Import, clean, and maintain schedules while protecting data integrity and controlling access
• Spot schedule risks and opportunities, then recommend practical mitigation actions
• Support the Risk Lead with schedule impact analysis and forecasting
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of guidelines and training resources
• Coach and enable others through training and support

Requirements

• Background in project scheduling, ideally in a Defence environment
• Hands-on experience with Cobra, Open Plan (OPP), and Microsoft Excel
• Strong knowledge of project management methods, cost forecasting, and the project lifecycle
• Proven ability to coach and support colleagues or clients
• Experience operating in a change management setting
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and juggle several priorities at once
• Confidence in influencing and guiding clients
• Collaborative mindset, flexibility, and the ability to deliver quality work under pressure and to deadlines
• Australian citizenship with Baseline or NV1 security clearance preferred

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain the required defence security clearance. An appropriate Baseline or NV1 clearance is preferred. ITAR restrictions may also affect suitability. Veterans and Defence partners are encouraged to apply.
