Role overview
This Darwin-based position is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of fit-out and finishes packages on construction projects. The role works closely with the Project Manager and Senior Site Manager to help ensure works are completed safely, on time, to specification, and to the expected quality standard.
What you will be doing
- Assist the Project Manager and Senior Site Manager with planning, sequencing, and coordination of site activities.
- Track fit-out and finishes progress against the programme and flag delays or issues early.
- Keep detailed records of materials, subcontractor work, inspections, and completed tasks.
- Assess drawings, specifications, and material schedules to confirm they match the project scope.
- Report scope changes and variations to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate subcontractors across fit-out and finishes trades to support timely supply and installation.
- Attend site meetings and inspections covering joinery, flooring, finishes, and related work packages.
- Check that subcontractors are meeting requirements for safety, quality, and schedule.
- Review work on site to confirm it aligns with specifications, design intent, and quality expectations.
- Identify defects in fit-out elements such as flooring, cabinetry, and other finishes, and support their resolution.
- Make sure work complies with building codes, project requirements, and DCOH safety systems.
- Carry out safety inspections and audits, including checks on SWMS and safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate site records such as checklists, coordination logs, and quality documentation.
- Liaise with consultants, designers, and subcontractors to resolve design and access issues.
- Build productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to a cooperative team culture and represent DCOH professionally at all times.
What we are looking for
- Tertiary or certificate-level qualifications in construction or a related field, or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong background in delivering fit-out and finishes scopes on commercial or residential projects valued at $10M or more.
- Good understanding of construction drawings, project specifications, and finishes-related requirements.
- Practical knowledge of fit-out systems and materials such as flooring, joinery, cladding, and ceiling systems.
- Demonstrated experience working with subcontractors and coordinating site activities.
- Sound knowledge of construction safety, quality control, and compliance requirements.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
