Job Description: Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will independently own complex problem areas across networking and software domains, with strong hands-on expertise in Python, Linux systems, Wi-Fi technologies, and packet-level diagnostics. This role requires the ability to evaluate products, design solutions aligned to Airtel network requirements, and mentor junior engineers while contributing directly to execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full technical ownership of products from initial concept and evaluation through solution design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing assurance.
• Lead the assessment of product software and propose scalable solutions that meet Airtel's network and deployment specifications.
• Translate Airtel's network architecture and operational requirements into detailed specifications for devices and software.
• Independently diagnose and resolve complex network and system issues using advanced tools like Wireshark, log analysis, and Linux diagnostic utilities.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts for testing, system monitoring, and data analysis.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the engineering team.
• Support and validate Wi-Fi functionalities, including roaming, mesh networking, steering, and performance tuning.
• Work extensively within Linux environments for scripting, debugging, and in-depth system analysis.
• Lead root cause analysis efforts and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions for issues identified in both lab and field environments.
• Create and review technical documentation, comprehensive test reports, and detailed solution proposals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and standards in networking, Wi-Fi, and telecommunications.

Required Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Accumulate 5 to 8 years of practical experience in software, networking, or telecommunications engineering roles.
• Demonstrate a robust understanding of core networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
• Exhibit hands-on proficiency with Wireshark and the ability to perform detailed packet-level analysis.
• Show strong command of Python for developing automation, scripting, and parsing data.
• Possess substantial experience working within Linux operating systems, including shell scripting and log analysis.
• Maintain a solid grasp of Wi-Fi technologies and concepts, such as 802.11 standards, roaming, mesh, steering, and band steering.
• Have exposure to 4G/5G mobility concepts, including handovers and signaling protocols.
• Display excellent capabilities in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging.
• Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working within Internet Service Provider (ISP) or telecom operator settings is advantageous.
• Familiarity with GPON, OMCI, and broadband access technologies is a plus.
• Experience with the OpenWrt platform, OpenWrt packages, prplOS, or other embedded networking platforms is desirable.
• Knowledge of TR-181 and TR-369 data models is beneficial.
• Hold relevant certifications like CCNA or equivalent.
• Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.
