Role summary
This is a senior distribution-facility operations role based in the Greater Adelaide Area within a high-volume healthcare logistics setting. The position focuses on keeping supply chain and distribution activities running smoothly across warehousing, transport, inventory, and purchasing, while also supporting staff supervision and system migration work.
About the organisation
The business is part of a Fortune Global 500 logistics group. Its health-care and time-critical logistics arm is known for moving highly sensitive shipments such as medical devices, transplant organs, aircraft engines, network equipment, and other urgent freight that requires precision and reliability.
What you will do
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse and dispatch operations so goods move efficiently through the network.
- Create and manage approaches for purchasing, storage, and distribution, including related policies and procedures.
- Keep inventory at the right level to meet demand while controlling cost and waste.
- Run outbound dispatch activities, including scheduling, priority handling, and on-time delivery performance.
- Track stock positions and allocation to maintain supply continuity and smooth operations.
- Review storage and inventory systems and make improvements that strengthen stock accuracy.
- Work with suppliers on contracts to secure dependable service, suitable quality, and value for money.
- Serve as the main contact between warehouse teams, transport providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Allocate transport capacity and labour resources to improve operational output.
- Measure and interpret distribution performance indicators such as delivery results, stock accuracy, and freight measures.
- Keep dispatch, inventory movement, and transaction records accurate for compliance and traceability.
- Lead, train, and supervise warehouse and dispatch staff while maintaining safety and performance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts that strengthen visibility and efficiency across supply chain and distribution activities.
- Support logistics service provider management to ensure service, operational, and cost expectations are met.
Continuous improvement focus
- Spot gaps in WMS and HELIX processes and recommend practical improvements.
- Help refine logistics systems and day-to-day workflows on an ongoing basis.
Experience and capabilities
- Hands-on background in logistics or supply chain operations, including project work.
- People management experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Analytical thinking with solid problem-solving and risk awareness.
- Comfort working from detailed instructions and procedures.
- Able to coordinate work within a team with limited supervision.
- Accountable for the quality of personal output.
- Good interpersonal and communication ability.
Physical and working conditions
- You may need to work briefly in a cold room environment at -4°C.
- The role requires sustained alertness and a strong focus on safety.
