Systems Engineer

Role overview

This position is for a Systems Engineer hired on behalf of a partner company. The role focuses on building, running, and improving operations and development functions that support highly available AWS services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and continuously improve operations and development teams supporting high-availability AWS services.
• Take ownership of the ongoing operation and growth of the European Sovereign Cloud.
• Work closely with AWS teams worldwide and contribute to the direction of AWS service development.
• Improve daily operations by raising availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency across the European Sovereign Cloud.
• Join on-call schedules and handle incidents outside normal working hours when needed.
• Build and maintain scalable services that deliver a dependable experience for customers across the EU.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and either network troubleshooting or network administration.
• Strong programming or scripting ability in Python, Perl, or a similar language.
• Background in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or operating large-scale systems.
• Capability to create, refine, and strengthen standard operating procedures and promote sound operational practices.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Must be a national of an EU member state and currently live in the EU.
