Role Summary

The Vessel Operator will oversee dry cargo vessel operations end to end, coordinating closely with counterparties in different locations and ensuring smooth execution of shipping activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of all assigned vessels and manage the full shipping operation for dry cargo ships.
• Coordinate voyage instructions with ship owners, ship masters, charterers, the trading team, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Track and complete all post-fixture follow-up activities.
• Handle day-to-day external relationships with customers and/or suppliers.
• Support and drive process improvement efforts when needed.
• Build and maintain a productive working relationship with the Commercial team.
• Work effectively with other Freight Platform desks.

Experience and Skills

The role calls for 3 to 4 years of experience in voyage or time charter operations for dry bulk vessels, with responsibility for at least 8 to 10 vessels at the same time. Strong customer or supplier relationship management skills are important, along with an interest in people management.

Applicants should understand macroeconomics and trade flows, and ideally have a background in commercial studies, shipping, or economics. Strong English communication skills are required. Previous sea-going experience is helpful but not mandatory. Good command of technology, especially Excel, Word, and shipping systems such as IMOS, is expected.

Additional Skills

Experience with Sedna and IMOS is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate is customer-oriented, able to build long-term relationships, accountable, collaborative, and comfortable working under tight deadlines. The role also suits someone with initiative, adaptability, flexibility, negotiation ability, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
