Role overview
St. Mary’s Episcopal School is looking for a highly organized Communications Coordinator to support the Communications Office in both day-to-day administration and creative communications work. The role helps keep projects moving, supports publications and promotional content, maintains digital assets and website materials, and contributes to the school’s broader marketing and storytelling efforts.
The right person will be a clear communicator, a capable project manager, and someone who can stay dependable and proactive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. This position also requires balancing operational duties with creative support while helping protect the consistency of the school’s brand voice and visual identity across channels.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the production schedule for publications, marketing pieces, and communication initiatives so timelines are met and work progresses smoothly from planning through final delivery.
- Arrange the creation and circulation of promotional content such as printed materials, event programs, invitations, and school-wide communications.
- Assist with writing, preparing, and publishing content for newsletters, magazines, website updates, email campaigns, and other digital or print materials.
- Keep website information up to date by posting articles, photos, videos, and other media while ensuring the content remains accurate and on-brand.
- Review and refine communications for clarity, polish, and accuracy before distribution.
- Help maintain a consistent visual style and messaging approach across all school communications and marketing outputs.
- Deliver administrative and operational support to the Communications Office, including scheduling, coordination, deadline tracking, and handling internal communication requests.
- Keep files, calendars, workflows, production records, invoices, and orders organized to support efficient office operations.
- Work with freelance photographers, videographers, designers, printers, and other external creative vendors to support school communications and events.
- Manage and preserve photo, video, and digital asset libraries for ongoing school use.
- Support the Director of Communication in guiding student interns by setting expectations, assigning work, and offering coaching and feedback.
- Assist with school events, media-related opportunities, special projects, and other efforts that strengthen the school’s mission and visibility.
- Partner closely with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and families as a collaborative member of the school community.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, journalism, public relations, English, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- Between 1 and 3 years of professional experience in a relevant role is preferred.
- Excellent organizational ability and a strong eye for detail.
- Well-developed writing and proofreading skills.
- Comfort handling several projects and deadlines at the same time.
- Experience with Canva is an advantage.
- Strong people skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and outside partners.
- A flexible, professional, positive approach and a willingness to take on varied tasks as needed.
