Role overview

The Cost Controller will be based in St. John’s and will support capital project financial tracking, reporting, and control activities. The position involves managing cost data, preparing reports, and assisting with project closeout and forecast processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare capital project cost reports and explain budget variances.
  • Review, code, and attest vendor invoices, and support progress billing activity.
  • Track, forecast, and report on work carried out under In-Service Failure programs.
  • Create monthly capital accruals.
  • Set up work orders to support cost tracking.
  • Build project forecasts, capital budget change orders, contract change orders, and cost flow reports.
  • Prepare requisitions, Purchasing Exception Reports, and Approval to Award documents.
  • Analyze and prepare quarterly commitment reports.
  • Complete project closeout files, including Asset Assignment Forms and Interest Cut Off forms.
  • Handle additional reporting and related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost control, ideally within a capital project setting.
  • Strong analytical ability along with solid knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
  • Experience in the electric utility sector will be treated as an advantage.
