Role overview
This on-site internship in the Quality department is based in Mesquite, Texas. The position supports quality operations through data analysis, dashboard upkeep, project tracking, and general administrative assistance. It offers exposure to manufacturing quality systems, business intelligence reporting, and coordination across different teams.
The intern will contribute to the upkeep of Power BI dashboards, respond to data requests from multiple departments, monitor quality improvement work, and help with daily operational tasks within the Quality group.
Key responsibilities
- Pull data and generate reports from existing Power BI dashboards.
- Help internal teams handle routine and one-off data requests.
- Check data for accuracy and look into any mismatches or inconsistencies.
- Prepare KPI summaries on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Sort, organize, and summarize large datasets using Excel and Power BI.
- Build familiarity with current Quality dashboards and how their reporting logic works.
- Keep dashboard documentation, KPI definitions, and user guides updated.
- Assist with testing and validating dashboards after changes are made.
- Look for ways to make reporting more efficient and data easier to understand.
- Monitor project action items, deadlines, and task ownership.
- Follow up with stakeholders on open tasks and outstanding deliverables.
- Maintain project trackers and capture meeting notes.
- Support quality improvement efforts and cross-functional projects.
- Help prepare management presentations and reports.
- Gather data and supporting information for management reviews.
- Assist with administrative and organizational work for the department.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the team.
Qualifications
Applicants should currently be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
The role is intended for candidates who are comfortable working with data, eager to learn, and interested in manufacturing, quality systems, and business intelligence.
Preferred skills and traits
Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis tools, is preferred. Familiarity with Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms is also desirable, along with a basic understanding of SQL. Good PowerPoint skills, strong organization, clear communication, multitasking ability, attention to detail, problem-solving, and the capacity to work independently after training are all valuable for this role.
