Role overview
The Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment office is hiring for multiple analytics roles at different career levels: Data Analyst (P2), Senior Data Analyst (P3), and Lead Data Analyst (P4). The position contributes to major institutional priorities by turning data into clear reporting, meaningful analysis, dashboards, and strategic insights that help leaders make decisions affecting students, faculty, and operational performance.
Depending on the level selected, the role ranges from carrying out analyses and building reports to mentoring others, improving practices, or leading complex enterprise initiatives. The work is highly collaborative and involves close partnership with stakeholders across campus as well as teams focused on assessment, data engineering, data science, and data governance. Fully remote and hybrid arrangements are available.

Core duties
- Produce accurate routine and on-demand reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain curated datasets that support reporting and broader analytics needs.
- Perform descriptive, summary, and statistical analysis, including methods such as regression and ANOVA.
- Explain findings clearly to both technical audiences and non-technical stakeholders.
- Handle analytical assignments independently, with complexity increasing by career level.
- Develop and maintain metadata, data definitions, and technical documentation.
- Create training resources and supporting materials that improve data literacy.
- Assist with administration of the Data Cookbook and other enterprise metadata platforms.
- Work with campus data partners to strengthen data quality and shared understanding.
- Use responsible data stewardship practices and communicate effectively across functional and technical groups.
- At higher levels, help improve data quality, solve difficult issues across systems, establish validation approaches, and promote consistent analytics practices.
- For senior and lead levels, serve as a trusted analytics partner for assigned domains and translate business needs into tailored solutions.
- For the lead level, guide large cross-functional initiatives, set analytical standards, coach colleagues, and contribute to planning and prioritization.
Career level scope
- P2: Executes analyses, creates reports, and builds technical capability.
- P3: Leads projects, mentors peers, and helps improve data quality and working methods.
- P4: Drives strategy, leads broad initiatives, and establishes standards across domains.
Requirements
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and experience in data extraction, data processing, visualization, and analysis. The experience requirement varies by level: P2 requires 2+ years, P3 requires 4+ years, and P4 requires 6+ years. A full-time internship may count toward the P2 experience requirement.
Strong communication skills are important, including the ability to present findings and maintain clear documentation. Applicants should be comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization and handling sensitive or confidential information responsibly.
Preferred technical experience includes BI tools, especially Tableau; relational databases and reporting tools such as SQL and Cognos; and statistical analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, and Minitab. Attention to detail, quality focus, and the ability to work independently are also important.
Preferred qualifications
- A degree in Business, Management, Financial Management, MIS, CIT, Math/Statistics, Behavioral & Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
- A master’s degree.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Tableau, Cognos, SAS, SPSS, Minitab, R, Python, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Background in higher education analytics, reporting, or data environments.
- Experience using generative AI tools to support analytics work such as documentation, exploration, and summarization, with responsible and ethical use.
