Job Summary
We are looking for a Data Scientist to lead the creation, development, and rollout of tailored machine learning models and analytics products intended for commercial use. The role also involves speeding up data pipeline delivery through advanced GenAI-enabled workflows in a modern cloud environment.

About the Role
This position combines deep machine learning work with client-facing delivery. The right person will develop, test, and refine custom algorithms to address complex business challenges and support product deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and deploy custom data models, algorithms, and analytics applications for commercial product releases.
- Work closely with internal delivery teams and external clients to understand business challenges and translate them into practical solutions.
- Use GenAI workflows, including Claude-based processes, to accelerate pipeline construction and improve architectural scalability.
- Put in place reliable tools and procedures to monitor model performance, data quality, and overall integrity.
- Explain analytical findings and model outputs in a way that is clear and accessible to different audiences.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong hands-on ability in Python and SQL, with solid experience in statistical modeling such as regression and clustering.
- Practical exposure to cloud data warehouse platforms like BigQuery or Snowflake.
- Understanding of Claude-based GenAI workflows for faster data pipeline development.
- Useful background in GIS tools and technologies such as ArcGIS, PostGIS, or Postgres.
- A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
- Good working knowledge of version control, package management, and collaborative software development practices.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Auckland CBD with a hybrid working arrangement. Only candidates currently living in New Zealand and holding valid, unrestricted work rights will be considered. The employer values diversity and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds.
