Role Overview
The Saudi National Bank (SNB) is looking for a Database Manager to oversee the planning, deployment, and ongoing support of database platforms that power key business functions. This role calls for strong technical depth in database technologies, solid leadership ability, and a sharp focus on keeping systems available, fast, and secure.
Core Responsibilities
- Take charge of the daily administration of database environments, ensuring strong performance, data integrity, and security across all systems.
- Set up, maintain, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to safeguard business continuity.
- Build database solutions that can scale and remain highly available as operational demands increase.
- Develop new database structures and refine existing designs to improve efficiency and system responsiveness.
- Partner with application development teams so database architecture fits application needs and business objectives.
- Apply database security standards and help maintain compliance with internal and external requirements, including SAMA and AML/CTF-related controls.
- Carry out routine audits and vulnerability reviews to uncover and reduce exposure to risk.
- Track database health continuously, use tuning methods to improve performance, and resolve bottlenecks based on logs and metrics.
- Guide and support a team of database administrators and developers through leadership, coaching, and coordination.
- Work across IT operations, application groups, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth and reliable database service delivery.
Requirements
- Must be Saudi national.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Advanced database certifications such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL are considered an advantage.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in database management, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Background in managing large-scale database environments.
- Strong knowledge of both relational and non-relational database platforms.
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Exposure to cloud database services such as AWS RDS and Azure SQL.
- Solid understanding of database security, access management, and compliance obligations.
- Strong problem-solving ability along with excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Location: Jeddah.
