Role overview
Dorset Council is hiring C1 (7.5T) drivers to join a welcoming collection crew in Wimborne Minster. This opportunity suits someone who prefers being home each day, enjoys varied local work, and values a workplace that supports healthy work-life balance.
What the job involves
- Carry out driving duties on local routes with daytime work from Monday to Friday.
- Work outdoors and handle physically active tasks as part of the collection service.
- Be available for early starts, occasional weekend work, and bank holiday shifts.
- Take overtime when available.
- Apply sound health and safety awareness throughout daily duties.
Essential licence and compliance
- Hold a valid Category C1 (7.5T) driving licence.
- Carry a current digital tachograph card.
- Have proof of a completed Driver CPC qualification.
Experience and suitability
- Previous work in the waste sector will be helpful.
- Good knowledge of the local area is considered an advantage.
- This role is suited to someone physically fit who is comfortable working outdoors.
Working pattern
The post is for 37 hours per week, generally split into early morning starts, weekday daytime shifts, and some weekend or bank holiday working as required. Overtime may be offered.
