Role overview
Stena Line is hiring an Electro-Technical Officer for its Harwich to Hook of Holland service, based on the Stena Britannica. This is a permanent, full-time shipboard role within the Engine Department, designed for someone who wants strong work-life balance alongside room to grow technical expertise.
What the role involves
In this position, you will support vessel management across a range of electro-technical duties, helping the ship operate safely, efficiently, and with cost awareness. The job calls for practical problem-solving and close coordination with onboard teams.
- Support ship management with the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the vessel from an electro/technical perspective.
- Look after the maintenance and safe functioning of equipment under your responsibility.
- Identify risks to the vessel, crew, and environment, then put suitable controls in place.
- Carry out duties assigned within the ship’s safety organisation.
- Build, maintain, and run a planned maintenance system for electro/technical equipment.
- Provide emergency response support for designated ship safety and essential operating equipment.
- Assist with projects involving electro/technical systems and equipment.
- Keep up to date with laws, regulations, and technology affecting the equipment in your charge.
- Be available during the annual refit and any emergency docking to help with electro/technical work and to support safe lock-out procedures.
- Help organise and run the team efficiently in line with the Chief Engineer’s instructions and company standards.

- STCW Elementary First Aid

- STCW Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
- High Voltage – Management Level
- Proof of the right to work in the UK
