Role overview
Tranzit Group is looking for an Operations Assistant to join its busy Masterton-based team in the Wairarapa. The organisation is a well-established transport and tourism provider operating across New Zealand, and this position is intended to strengthen day-to-day service delivery and support the driving team.
In this role, you will contribute to operational coordination and administration, and you may also provide driving support when needed.
Key duties
- Assist the Operations Manager and the broader team with administrative and operational tasks.
- Handle weekly banking, process driver timesheets each day, and complete back costing work.
- Help coordinate rosters for urban services, tours, and charters.
- Order and process uniforms, stationery, and other depot-related supplies.
- Support customers with a high level of service and help manage bookings and enquiries.
- Take part in an after-hours rotating on-call roster.
- Provide driving assistance, including a daily school run and other driving duties as required.
What the role calls for
- Strong communication skills and a genuine comfort in speaking with people.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks while staying organised and administratively accurate.
- Confidence using computers and adapting to new systems and software.
- Good judgement in prioritising work and resolving problems.
- A positive mindset and eagerness to learn.
- Either hold a Class 2 licence and P endorsement, or be willing and able to obtain them with support.

Additional information
This position includes after-hours support through a rotating on-call arrangement. The successful candidate will need to pass police vetting and a drug and alcohol test as part of pre-employment screening. Applicants must also have New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work permit.
