Role overview
This opening is for a seasoned infrastructure professional to support and evolve enterprise virtualization and Linux environments. The position calls for deep hands-on experience across Proxmox VE, VMware vSphere, Linux administration, storage platforms, networking, backup and recovery, monitoring, automation, and broader data center support.
What you will do
- Set up, configure, run, and support Proxmox Virtual Environment clusters.
- Administer Linux servers across Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Rocky Linux, and CentOS.
- Build, clone, move, provision, and retire virtual machines and containers.
- Manage Proxmox high availability, live migration, and cluster operations.
- Handle VMware ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, HA, and DRS administration.
- Carry out migrations from VMware to Proxmox while keeping downtime to a minimum.
- Work with Ceph, ZFS, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, and SAN-based storage setups.
- Set up and troubleshoot Linux bridges, bonding, VLANs, DNS, and routing.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Track infrastructure health, resource usage, and future capacity needs.
- Perform upgrades, patching, security hardening, and vulnerability fixes.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to virtualization, operating systems, storage, and networks.
- Prepare and keep SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation current.
- Work with infrastructure, network, storage, and application teams on support and implementation tasks.
Experience expected
Candidates should bring 7 to 10 years of overall experience, including strong hands-on work in Linux administration, Proxmox VE, VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter), virtualization migration, storage management, networking, backup and disaster recovery, monitoring, automation, and enterprise infrastructure support.
Preferred knowledge
- Proxmox VE administration, KVM virtualization, and LXC containers.
- VMware ESXi and vCenter administration, along with HA, live migration, and cluster management.
- Linux administration across Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Rocky Linux, and CentOS.
- User and permission management, package handling, performance tuning, Linux hardening, and Bash or shell scripting.
- Storage technologies such as Ceph, ZFS, LVM or LVM-Thin, SAN and NAS administration, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and documentation abilities.
- Comfort working in a 24x7 production setting and handling critical incidents and change activities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
