About the company
Seequent develops advanced technology that helps organisations better understand what lies beneath the surface so they can make faster, more confident decisions. Its tools support work across mineral resource development, infrastructure planning and construction, renewable energy sourcing, and reducing environmental impact. The company serves customers in more than 145 countries and is headquartered in New Zealand.
About the role
Seequent is growing its AI capability within Seequent Evo, the company’s geoscience data platform used by earth scientists and engineers around the world. This role offers the chance to join a newly established team and contribute to the design and delivery of applied Generative AI solutions. The work will shape how GenAI is integrated into the platform and scaled reliably so customers can uncover insights, streamline workflows, and make better decisions from their data.
What you will do
- Design and define GenAI architecture using suitable modelling approaches and agreed engineering practices.
- Create and present design perspectives that satisfy stakeholder expectations and cover both functional and non-functional needs, including security.
- Assess technical trade-offs, compare possible approaches, and build prototypes or behavioural models to align stakeholders.
- Develop, test, document, maintain, and improve complex software and integration services.
- Promote effective engineering tools, methods, and working practices, while strengthening compliance with standards and security requirements.
- Review technical work from peers and provide mentoring and guidance to help raise team capability.
- Coordinate release activities across teams and ensure quality, security, and compliance expectations are met, including post-release review.
- Own smaller projects or sub-projects end to end, including scope, planning, risk management, stakeholder coordination, governance, and outcome tracking.
- Help shape the new AI team as it grows through hiring and expansion.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in relevant software engineering roles.
- At least 1 year of experience building and running production GenAI products with large language models.
- Strong understanding of RAG systems, semantic search, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval optimisation.
- Familiarity with MCP, A2A, or similar approaches for exposing services to agent-based applications.
- Exposure to cloud service development, with Docker, Kubernetes, and FastAPI considered an advantage.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication with stakeholders, the ability to work independently, and confidence mentoring others and promoting strong engineering habits.
