Senior Software Engineer – Ruby on Rails

Role overview

This is a senior hands-on engineering position with a fast-growing SaaS business in Dublin. The company provides a cloud platform that gives organisations live operational and financial visibility. The product is already live, generating revenue, used in international markets, and includes AI-led capabilities at its core. The environment is product-driven and founder-backed, with rapid engineering-to-production cycles and little in the way of slow corporate release processes.

The role is not limited to coding delivery. It combines technical leadership, architecture ownership, and team mentorship, with direct day-to-day collaboration with the CTO/founder and product leadership. It also offers a defined route toward Engineering Management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and grow the platform’s core services using Ruby on Rails.
• Take ownership of production performance, system reliability, and scalability.
• Guide and support a small Ruby on Rails team, including offshore engineers.
• Partner with the CTO on architectural direction and technical decisions.
• Establish engineering standards and encourage consistent best practices.
• Work closely with founders and product leaders to shape delivery.
• Turn product concepts, including AI-focused features, into deployed solutions.
• Help improve engineering workflows and processes as the company expands.

Candidate profile

• At least 5–7+ years of practical Ruby on Rails experience.
• Strong background in designing and building scalable production-grade systems.
• Solid capability in architecture and system design.
• Experience gained in startup or scale-up settings.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, or lead other engineers.
• Clear and confident communicator who is comfortable working with founders.
• Interest in progressing into an Engineering Management role.
• Hybrid working arrangement with 1 day per week in the office in Dublin.

Preferred experience

• Exposure to React Native or mobile development.
• Experience building AI-enabled product features.
• Background in SaaS product environments.
