Software Engineer

About the Role

Starbucks is seeking a Software Engineer to help deliver dependable, secure, and high-performing technology that allows teams to develop, ship, and run software with confidence. In this position, you will contribute to engineering support work that includes setup, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, analysis, and technical assistance, all while reflecting Starbucks’ guiding principles.

What You’ll Do

• Support development teams so delivery stays fast and dependable, including helping resolve developer issues and improving build and release workflows.
• Improve reliability and observability by adding monitoring, deep telemetry, and strong operational support, while automating solutions across the environment.
• Help establish secure and compliant systems by applying information security practices, maintaining secure configurations and baselines, and following relevant policies and regulatory requirements.

Experience and Background

The role is intended for candidates with 0 to 4 years of professional software development experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Preferred Technical Strengths

Ideal candidates bring experience in systems or production operations, automation scripting, cloud platforms, delivery tooling, and core infrastructure concepts such as networking and data storage.

Additional Information

Vacation accrual varies by state and job level. In CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND, and RI, roles below director accrue up to 120 hours annually, or up to 190 hours in California; director-level roles and above accrue up to 200 hours annually, or up to 316 hours in California. In other states, roles below director start at 120 hours annually and director-level roles and above start at 200 hours annually.

Starbucks notes that final base pay depends on factors such as skills, experience, location, and internal equity, and it is not common for hires to be placed at the top of the pay range.
