Role overview
WOW Recruitment is working with a B2B events company to find a Business Development Manager who will drive sponsorship and partnership revenue across an established APAC portfolio. This is a consultative, high-value sales role where you will research prospects, build a commercial case, and present partnership solutions that can lead to six-figure wins.
You will be joining a strong sales team that has almost doubled multi-million-dollar revenue in recent years without a major increase in headcount, reflecting both strong market demand and attractive earning potential.
Working arrangement
This position is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The role follows a 4-day in-office and 1-day work-from-home pattern.
Visa sponsorship is open for suitable candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the entire new business process from prospecting and discovery through to pitch, negotiation, and deal closure.
- Sell both pre-packaged sponsorship offerings and customised partnership solutions.
- Work with a broad range of target organisations, with particular attention on technology vendors.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders such as C-suite leaders, vice presidents, heads of marketing and sales, and regional decision-makers.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver strong sponsor outcomes while maintaining commercial standards.
- Prioritise new business development, while also managing select existing accounts with genuine growth potential.
What success looks like
- You create a healthy pipeline and move opportunities forward with clear momentum.
- You handle complex sales journeys and preserve value through procurement and approval stages.
- You are expected to work toward approximately $1 million AUD in first-year revenue, which is considered achievable in this environment.
- You focus on fewer, high-value opportunities rather than high-volume, low-margin activity.
Candidate profile
- You bring proven experience in new business development and closing within consultative B2B sales.
- You have a track record of securing larger deals involving multiple stakeholders, not just high-volume SMB transactions.
- You are comfortable owning the full sales cycle, including opportunity creation, management, and closure.
- You are highly organised, resilient, and consistent with outreach and follow-up.
- Experience in tech sales, enterprise sales, subscription sales, or other complex solution-selling environments will be highly relevant.
Compensation
The package includes a base salary of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation, with first-year OTE of $170,000 to $190,000 plus super and an uncapped commission plan.
Top performers can earn approximately $350,000 to $450,000 plus super, with strong year-on-year earning upside for consistent achievers.
