Description de l'emploi
Role overview
Optinergy, part of the Galetech Group, provides independent operations and maintenance support to renewable energy projects across Ireland. The business is expanding and is seeking dependable, attentive people to join its 24/7 renewable energy control room team.
In this position, you will monitor wind, solar, and battery assets in real time across Ireland and the UK. The work is carried out in a fast-moving control room, where you will handle alarms, support on-site technicians, manage access to sites, and keep operational records accurate throughout each shift.
No prior renewable energy background is required from day one. What matters most is sound judgement, strong concentration, an interest in technical work, and a clear focus on safety and quality.
Employment options
Full-time, permanent: You will work on a rotating 24/7 roster covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Part-time, cover-based: This option suits candidates who want flexible hours. Shifts are generally assigned as needed to cover weekends, nights, sick leave, and annual leave. These shifts are paid hourly and do not come with fixed weekly or monthly hours.
What the role involves
- Tracking renewable energy sites live through SCADA and other operational monitoring tools
- Spotting and responding to alarms, equipment issues, outages, and communication problems at site
- Helping ensure safe transfer of control in line with Wind Turbine Safety Rules
- Verifying site access, ongoing work activity, and the status of personnel on site
- Passing faults and operational incidents to the appropriate internal teams or external contacts
- Serving as a main contact during emergencies and unusual events
- Watching for severe weather conditions and issuing alerts when needed
- Maintaining shift logs, checklists, ticket records, and updates in third-party systems
- Supporting clear handovers between control room operators at shift change
- Preparing reports and status updates for internal colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
- Working in line with company procedures and supporting ISO compliance
Candidate profile
The employer is looking for someone with strong communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to stay concentrated over long periods. You should be calm under pressure, organised, comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office 365, and able to follow procedures carefully while escalating issues when needed.
A practical background in technical, electrical, mechanical, or operational work is preferred, along with a genuine interest in renewable energy, control room operations, or power generation. A good standard of written and spoken English is also important.
Desirable background
Although not essential, experience in a control room, operations centre, utilities, energy, manufacturing, engineering, or technical support setting would be useful. Prior exposure to SCADA or similar monitoring systems is also an advantage.
Additional helpful experience includes shift work, nights, weekends, or other 24/7 operational environments, along with handling alarms, faults, incident response, or technical escalation. An electrical or mechanical qualification, such as UK Level 3 or Irish Level 5, would also be beneficial.
Why this role may appeal
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the operation of renewable energy infrastructure across Ireland and the UK. The role offers a professional and supportive control room setting where accuracy, communication, and safety are central to the work.
Equal opportunity statement
Optinergy and the Galetech Group operate as equal opportunities employers and are committed to fair access to employment for current and prospective staff.
