Role Overview
ALI BIN ALI is looking for a seasoned Oracle Database Administrator to support enterprise database operations in Doha. The role centers on Oracle Database 19c administration across Linux and Windows environments, with responsibility for reliable installation, setup, maintenance, optimization, backup and recovery, security hardening, patching, and high-availability support. Experience handling MySQL administration and database migration work will be an added advantage.
Core Responsibilities
- Carry out Oracle Database 19c upgrades, migration work, and technology stack update activities.
- Create databases, perform cloning and refresh tasks, and provision new environments as needed.
- Administer multitenant Oracle setups, including CDB and PDB structures.
- Use RMAN to manage backup, restore, and recovery operations.
- Set up and maintain Flashback Database and Guaranteed Restore Point capabilities.
- Track database availability, health, and performance on a continuous basis.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and resolve database-related problems.
- Review SQL statements and execution plans to improve query efficiency.
- Study AWR, ASH, and ADDM outputs and recommend performance improvements.
- Adjust database parameters, memory configuration, and storage settings for better performance.
- Fix bottlenecks affecting database speed and address locking/contention issues.
- Support Oracle Data Guard configuration and ongoing operations.
- Manage failover and switchover procedures when required.
- Contribute to disaster recovery drills, planning, and validation activities.
- Support business continuity efforts tied to database availability.
- Apply Oracle Release Updates, CPU, PSU, and one-off patches through OPatch.
- Plan and execute database upgrade initiatives end to end.
- Keep Oracle Inventory and patch-compliance records up to date.
- Handle backup, recovery, and replication tasks for MS SQL environments.
- Monitor MS SQL performance and tune queries where necessary.
- Support migration efforts between Oracle and MS SQL platforms.
- Apply database security standards and best practices.
- Manage users, roles, profiles, and permissions, and support auditing/compliance needs.
- Carry out security patching and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Prepare SOPs, implementation documents, rollback plans, and other technical records.
- Deliver L2/L3 support for production database issues.
- Join on-call support and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams to resolve issues and deliver changes.
Experience
This position calls for 6 to 10 years of relevant database administration experience.
