Factory Manager

Role Overview

Pragati Rice is hiring an experienced Factory Manager to oversee its rice industry unit at Gopinathpur, near Kharagpur, West Bengal. This position reports to the Director, Plant Head, or Managing Director and is focused on running the plant efficiently across production, maintenance, quality, manpower, dispatch, safety, and target achievement.

Compensation

The role offers a salary of up to 12–13 LPA.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of day-to-day operations at the rice mill or factory.
• Oversee the full processing flow, including rice processing, grading, sorting, polishing, and packing.
• Track production goals and keep output aligned with company benchmarks.
• Supervise equipment operation, planned maintenance, and emergency breakdown resolution.
• Maintain consistency in raw material and finished goods quality.
• Manage workforce planning, shift allocation, and discipline on the shop floor.
• Monitor and control stock levels for paddy, rice, packaging materials, and finished inventory.
• Work closely with procurement, dispatch, and warehouse teams to keep operations coordinated.
• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to internal policies across the factory.
• Minimize waste and improve overall operational efficiency.
• Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Follow applicable government rules, labour requirements, and food safety standards.
• Watch utility usage, including electricity, boiler, and fuel consumption.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of rice mill operations and production workflows.
• People leadership and team supervision skills.
• Practical knowledge of machinery upkeep and troubleshooting.
• Awareness of quality control practices and food safety requirements.
• Capability in production planning and inventory management.
• Clear communication and structured problem-solving ability.
• Comfort with MS Excel and reporting tools is preferred.

Education and Experience

Candidates should have a B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or a related discipline. A minimum of 8 years of experience is required, preferably in large-scale production environments and within the rice mill or rice processing sector.

• Willingness to live near the factory location if the role requires it.
